Wax will not last forever but adds another layer of protection but always test an inconspicuous area to make sure it will work wit the coatings oft he urn.

Another common type of urn is a pet photo urn. Often made of one of the mentioned materials it will often have a placeholder for your pets photo including a holder for a metal plaque that you can have you pets name engraved on with a few loving words. In some cases the a photo of your pet and a few lines of kindness can be laser engraved onto the surface of the pet urn. This is often done on stone or wood surfaces.

If you are looking for a burial urn than material will not matter much unless you want some degree or preservation. Often people will plant a small tree or shrub over the it or place a memorial stone over it. Some people will even place yard ornaments or some other ornament over it as a marker.
