The Lexmark S 1650: Still Available, Still A Great Printer
The Lexmark S 1650 is a printer that is part of Lexmark’s Optra series. This series has been discontinued for active sales, but it can be found online as refurbished models. If you think that buying refurbished equipment is right for you – look into the risks and benefits of doing this before you buy – then you may save some money with this printer and the compatible S 1650 Printer Toner Cartridge.
The Lexmark company is a respected provider of computer accessories. Since it split from IBM in 1991, it has grown to where it now makes about five billion dollars in revenue every year. It has been listed as #5 in most admired companies of computer peripherals by Fortune magazine, and it has been given an A+ rating by the Better Business Bureau.
This Lexmark S 1650 is a monochrome printer with a capacity of 16 pages per minute using S 1650 Printer Cartridge. Now, most small business operations will be fine with such a speed, but this may tax companies that have an extremely high volume (or if they print higher volumes periodically on bigger projects). If you don’t think this will work for you, you will want to find another (hopefully affordable) option that better suits your needs.
This printer does have a decent duty cycle, however. It has a duty cycle of sixty-five thousand pages per month, which will again suit most lower volume needs. And it’s paper input can be expanded from three hundred and fifty pages to over three thousand if you have high-volume needs but don’t need to print at blinding speeds.
It has good printing quality for the needs of small business. The S 1650 will print at resolutions as high as 1200 DPI (dots per inch), which is higher than most offices will use for standard printing-even professional printing. It does offer the crisp resolution of 1200 DPI, however, when image quality is especially important. This is good when you are printing some pictures of business graphics like charts and graphs, and you need the output to be great. Reviewers have found that it prints clean, smooth lines and that it completely fills sections of charts and graphs with no gaps. It also is reported to be great and feeding paper so there will be little paper jams.
The price of the printer itself will now usually come at just under three hundred dollars. This printer used to sell for much more, but as was mentioned earlier it is not in production anymore and most of these printers available online will be refurbished or sometimes used. If you want a professional-grade printer for a decent price and the features are strong enough for your needs, this will be a great deal.
The Lexmark S 1650 toner is still sold at standard prices, however, which is usually still pretty steep. In fact, the toner cost is comparable to the cost of the printer itself (in refurbished form). There are two basic models of toner cartridges: the standard and high-capacity versions. The high capacity version will print more than twice as many pages for much less than twice as much as the standard toner–the high capacity cartridge may be the best deal if you plan to use your printer frequently.
The Lexmark S 1650: Right For You?
The Lexmark Optra line of printers performed admirably for small business users at one time. Now they now longer produce these printers, but many online retailers still sell them as refurbished or used machines. Look into the pros and cons of buying refurbished equipment, and if you think that this option might work for you, you could make great savings with the Lexmark S 1650 with compatible S 1650 Printer Toner Cartridge.

The printing quality of this Optra S series is pretty remarkable. Reviewers have reported that for making business graphics for presentations, it had printed cleanly without jagged lines. Its resolution goes up to 1200 DPI (dots per inch), which is great for most documents. In fact, you will likely be using a smaller setting most of the time anyway. It’s also been reported to not jam frequently at all.
This printer can be found at some online retailers for fewer than three hundred dollars. In its day the printer went on sale for much more, but it is now an older model and is usually only available as a refurbished or used printer. This might be a great price for you if you don’t mind buying refurbished and you want a near professional-level laser printer designed for small business needs.
The Lexmark S 1650 toner is still sold at more usual prices, and that now amounts to almost the cost of the printer in some cases. Toner can be expensive, but if you print a lot of documents, you might be able to save some money by looking for a high-capacity toner cartridge. The higher capacity cartridge will print up to seventeen thousand and five hundred pages, while the regular cartridge will print less than half of that–and the high-capacity toner is much less than twice as much as the standard version.

The Lexmark company is a well-respected manufacturer of computer peripherals and accessories. In fact, Fortune magazine has listed it as number five in a list of the most admired manufacturers of computer peripherals. The Better Business Bureau also gave this company an A+ rating for their honesty and customer service.
The Lexmark 1650 is a black and white laser printer using S 1650 Toner. It may not fit the needs of every organization with its speed of sixteen pages per minute, but for most small business owners this will more than do the job. But if you print a very high volume or if your success depends on high output, this might not be the best choice for you.
The printing quality itself is pretty good. This S 1650 series printer is known for its ability to print decent graphics with smooth, un-jagged lines that will make for professional graphs and other business images. It has a resolution of up to 1200 DPI (dots per inch), which will be more than enough for most users. In fact, you will probably be printing at a lower resolution most of the time anyway. It also has a reliable paper feed system, so you won’t be experiencing too many paper jams.

The Lexmark S 1650 toner is still being sold at conventional prices, however. In fact, the toner now comes close to costing as much as the printer itself does (this is fairly usual as toner can be expensive). There are two types of toner available: the standard and the high-capacity cartridge. The standard cartridge will print up to seven thousand and five hundred pages. The high-capacity cartridge will print seventeen thousand and five hundred pages for much less than twice the cost.
Lexmark S 1620 And Lexmark S 1620 Toner Is A Killer Combination
Another great piece of printing equipment is the Lexmark S 1620. Lexmark has done it again with this printer as the company is known for manufacturing high quality printers.
This printer was manufactured for durability and ease of use. It is geared towards the office market. Usually those offices that have lots of printer intensive tasks that this printer can handle with ease.
The Lexmark S 1620 with compatible S 1620 Printer Cartridge is a much cheaper printer than the others in its category. The features, along with the printer’s capabilities, are far better than other printers within its price range. However we always advise that you look more at a printer’s print quality than stuff like its features.
Lexmark has a reputation of churning out printers that print both excellent quality prints, as well as incorporating the latest and most cutting edge features available.
Lexmark printers have always had excellent print quality especially when it came to printing text. You wont come across any cutting edge features with this printer within its price range, but then again this printer itself does not have any cutting edge features. I also went ahead and gave the printer using Lexmark S 1620 Toner a spin to check out how well it did when I wanted to print out various types of documents that included both text as well as photos and illustrations.
We began by testing the Lexmark printer by printing out a few text pages. The text came out crisp and bright so we decided to test it out on a few mixed pages i.e., a page in which text and graphics were mixed. The result of this was that the text reproduced fine except for a few minor problems with the graphics that made it seem washed out. Another thing was that the printer took a while to print out graphics, which is not a very good thing if you tend to do lots of graphic printing.
We also went ahead and tested the printer at high resolutions. The printer took a bit longer to warm up but once it did we were impressed with the print quality and the capability it had of printing high resolution text and graphics. The only difference was only the few extra seconds it took for the printer to warm up.
